Business Visitor Visa

The Business Visitor visa allows individuals to come to the UK for short stays to carry out permitted business-related activities. This includes attending meetings, conferences, or negotiations. The visit must be temporary, and the applicant must not intend to work or live in the UK. The visa is generally valid for up to 6 months and does not lead to settlement.

Overview

The Business Visitor visa allows foreign nationals to enter the UK for a short duration to undertake a range of permitted business activities. This includes attending meetings, conferences, interviews, training, or negotiating contracts. The visa is designed for individuals whose primary purpose is business-related, not employment or long-term stay.

This route is part of the Standard Visitor visa category and does not lead to settlement in the UK.

  • Are visiting the UK for a short period (typically up to 6 months)
  • Intend to undertake business activities permitted under the visitor rules
  • Do not intend to work, access public funds, or make the UK your main place of residence
  • Can demonstrate sufficient ties to your home country and intention to return
  • Have sufficient funds to cover the cost of your stay without working or relying on public resources

  • Giving one-off or short series of talks (provided they are not for profit)
  • Receiving training in work practices and techniques (from a UK company)

  • Installing, dismantling, repairing, or advising on equipment, machinery, or software supplied by their overseas employer (if the contract of supply includes this service)
  • Conducting site visits or fulfilling contractual obligations related to installation, maintenance, or support of goods supplied from overseas

Business visitors are not permitted to:

  • Undertake paid or unpaid work in the UK unless it falls within the scope of permitted activities
  • Live in the UK for extended periods through frequent or successive visits
  • Access public funds
